Buildout of Level 3, a shell space of approximately 16,062 SF, with Outpatient Psych Clinic services.
PROJECT DETAILS
Harris Health requested that Johnston provide an assessment of Level 3 of the Neuropsychiatric Center building located on the Ben Taub Hospital Campus. Level 3 encompasses a shell space, utilized primarily for storage and for the construction company’s temporary offices for a total of 16,029 SF. The space has a direct connection with the Ben Taub Tower and is served by existing elevators in the NPC building.
The assessment resulted in the design of the NPC building Level 3 and Level 4 to optimize the footprint of Psychiatric services in the Neuropsychiatric Building, improving workflow efficiency, increasing patient privacy and satisfaction, and bringing the space into compliance with current codes and regulations.
The scope included the buildout of Level 3, a shell space of approximately 16,062 SF, with Outpatient Psych Clinic services. These services were relocated from Level 2 and Level 4 and consolidated on this floor. As programs are consolidated, spaces will be shared and efficiencies created, providing room for expansion.
In addition, the clinic space vacated on Level 4, of approximately 2,799 SF, was used for a mechanical room, serving level 3, and re-programmed for other services, to be determined as part of the programming phase. The remaining space on Level 4, will not be affected, leaving the current inpatient unit intact.
