This campus expansion project improves connectivity, enhances staff efficiency, and supports patient transport across Houston Methodist Willowbrook.
PROJECT DETAILS
Houston Methodist Willowbrook partnered with Johnston to enhance campus connectivity and operational efficiency by constructing an enclosed, elevated connector bridge between the existing Hargrave Medical Office Building and the North Pavilion. Designed with functionality and safety in mind, the 15-foot-wide bridge includes a full exterior enclosure and integrates seamlessly with both existing structures. Its primary purpose is to streamline back-of-house operations and provide secure, weather-protected circulation for staff and patient transport.
In addition to the bridge, the project scope included the interior build-out of approximately 6,305 square feet of shell space, tailored to meet the needs of the facility. Johnston also constructed a secondary connector—approximately 680 square feet in size—linking the Hargrave Medical Office Building to the Central Plant. This involved new structural framing, roofing, enclosure, and finish-out, all carefully coordinated to tie into the existing facilities without interrupting ongoing operations.
By improving internal circulation and expanding usable clinical and support space, this project contributes to a more cohesive and efficient medical campus that supports both patient care and staff workflows.
