More than just a quiet space, the prayer room reflects the hospital’s belief in whole-person healing—uniting beauty, faith, and comfort in a place of peace for all who enter.
PROJECT DETAILS
Designed as a peaceful retreat within the fast-paced environment of the hospital, the 380-square-foot prayer room offers a welcoming and inclusive space for reflection, prayer, and meditation. Created in close collaboration with the hospital’s Department of Spiritual Care and Education, hospital staff, and Jacobs Engineering, the room serves the diverse spiritual needs of patients, families, and healthcare providers.
Located on the first floor of the main lobby near the Spiritual Care Offices, the prayer room is open 24 hours a day, offering quiet refuge at any hour. The space is anchored by a custom decorative tile installation at the Mihrab wall, a symbolic element that denotes direction in Islamic prayer. The room is further personalized by original artwork donated by Dr. Khawaja Azimuddin, a respected surgeon at the hospital, whose contribution enhances the emotional and aesthetic experience of the space.
Every detail—from the lighting and materials to the layout—was thoughtfully chosen to create a serene, respectful environment that promotes healing and connection across all faiths. This project reflects the hospital’s deep commitment to holistic care, recognizing the vital role that spirituality plays in the healing process.
