PROJECT DETAILS
In support of Ben Taub Hospital’s continued designation as a Level 1 trauma center—one of only two in the Houston area—this major expansion and upgrade was designed to enhance critical care capabilities while improving operational efficiency and staff support.
The 74,425-square-foot addition includes five new operating rooms, two state-of-the-art hybrid operating suites, and an oral surgical clinic, ensuring the facility remains equipped to handle a high volume of complex surgical cases. Overlooking the green expanse of the Houston Zoo, the new space also features 18 pre-operative and post-operative care beds, a fully modernized blood bank, and a central sterile processing unit tailored to resolve previous workflow and equipment bottlenecks.
Additional amenities, including new staff lounges and locker rooms, were integrated to improve day-to-day conditions for doctors, nurses, and hospital personnel. The result is a forward-looking facility that not only meets the immediate demands of high-level trauma care but also allows for thoughtful growth in the years ahead.
