Paula Gaviria and David Attard Presented at TAHFM

Paula Gaviria, Director of Healthcare Architecture for Johnston and David Attard MS, PMP, PgMP, Senior Vice President of Facilities, Construction and Systems Engineering for Harris Health System were selected to be presenters at this year’s Texas Association of Healthcare Facilities Management (TAHFM) conference held in Houston, Texas. Sam Houston State University Presidential Walk Open to the Public

Johnston was excited to work on the Presidential Walk for Sam Houston State University. The University desired to transform the old stairway path between the Thomason Building and Evan’s Complex into a more prominent pathway and courtyard. Johnston provided project management and civil engineering, including design and drainage solutions for the new courtyard. Upon commencement of the project, it was determined that there were some drainage challenges in this small, tight site. Johnston worked with The Arkitex Studio, Inc and Venturi Engineers LLC to redesign the project with new drainage solutions. As a result, the new courtyard is not only beautiful, but safe and functional as well.

City of Pasadena Municipal Courts Building Open For Business

Johnston is proud to have provided Architectural and MEP Engineering services for the new City of Pasadena Municipal Court Building. The one-story, 24,000 SF building features a classic brick façade and domed cupola creating a distinctive landmark element visible from surrounding major thoroughfares. The interior of the building boasts a two-story public concourse with clerestory windows that allows natural light to radiate through the space.

The new courthouse design improves public access, provides greater security, and consolidates court operations. The courthouse is located across the street from City Hall in an effort to centralize the local government offices. This project reinforces Pasadena’s commitment to better serving the community by adding efficiency and a sense of pride for residents.
